Nicole's Story of Support

Nicole and her children were living in emergency shelter after fleeing domestic violence. As she prepared to move toward permanent housing, the costs associated with starting again presented another barrier. She needed assistance with a damage deposit, groceries, transportation, and essential household setup costs.
From the Emergent Women and Children’s Fund, Nicole received $2000.00 to help remove some of those immediate financial barriers as she worked toward securing a safe and stable home for herself and her children.
The impact extended beyond the immediate expenses. In her follow-up survey, Nicole described her situation as “much better.” Transportation assistance allowed her to begin reapplying for her learner’s license, an important step toward greater independence and future employment opportunities. She also reported feeling more confident and hopeful about the future and expressed gratitude that the support was helping create a better future for both herself and her children.
