When I received support, I was carrying rental arrears at a time when life was already very difficult. I am a working mother, but the financial pressure of those arrears was another burden I had to carry while also trying to focus on healing and maintaining stability for myself and my family.
Through the Emergent Women and Children’s Fund, I received $1,000 in housing assistance, paid directly toward my housing-related costs.

The funding did not make every challenge disappear, but it made one significant challenge more manageable. Reducing what I owed gave me some breathing room during an already difficult period and helped me continue maintaining my housing while focusing on the other areas of my life that needed my attention.
