Who We Are

SOFIA House has been supporting women and children fleeing violence in Regina for over three decades. Through our second- and third-stage housing programs, we provide safe, stable homes for 39 families at a time—creating space for healing, growth, and rebuilding.

Our work extends far beyond housing. SOFIA House offers a range of trauma-informed, person-centered programs and supports that address the complex realities families face after leaving violence. These may include children’s programming, cultural and community connection, life skills development, and individualized support that helps families regain stability and independence.

Our Mission

SOFIA House is working to break the cycles of violence by providing:

Safe Housing

for women and children who are survivors of abuse.

On site programming

designed to develop sustainable personal growth and long term positive change for clients.

A supportive and nurturing environment

where women and children can begin to heal from the effects of violence.

Education and awareness

about the impacts to women and children of living in constant fear of violence.

SOFIA House Giving Fund

The SOFIA House Giving Fund plays a vital role in sustaining this work. Contributions to this fund help ensure that programs and services can continue to meet the evolving needs of families, while also supporting the overall environment required to deliver safe, consistent, and high-quality care.

This fund allows SOFIA House to respond where support is needed most—whether that is enhancing programming, maintaining safe and welcoming living spaces, or ensuring that families have access to the resources they need to move forward.

Through this fund, donors become part of a community effort that supports healing, strengthens families, and helps create pathways toward long-term safety and independence.

SOFIA House has been a good experience and I have felt safe here with my son. I have been able to heal and learn to cope with many things like stress and depression. The groups have helped me open up and realize I’m not alone. I am grateful for the people who work here and help us. Since what’s happened to me, SOFIA House has helped me so much along the way to heal and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help and guidance to get back on my feet.

SOFIA House has been a life changer for me. Before coming here I never thought there was a different life other than the one I was living. All I knew was dysfunction. I grew up in a home that was full of violence/drug/alcohol abuse. My parents would fight all the time. These things all became a part of my life and what my kids were raised around until I decided to come stay at SOFIA House. Living here and doing whatever it takes by working every program they have. The support given by the staff has been life changing. I have lived here for almost two years and in that time I have managed to stay clean and stable for the whole time I’ve been here. This is the longest I’ve ever stayed clean. I will forever be grateful for the support of this place.

SOFIA House provided me with a safe place to live after experiencing many years of emotional abuse, stalking and harassment. SOFIA House also provided me with a calm and quiet environment to begin my personal healing journey and focus on my children. This calm environment helped me to cope with my fears and illnesses, stemming from many years of abuse and trauma. The environment and programming also made it possible to practice self-care and connect with other women in similar situations for the first time. The staff made me feel comfortable, accepted and validated while providing guidance with daily life after abuse becomes overwhelming. It takes a long time to work through safety, emotional, financial, medical, legal and other barriers, so I’m grateful for SOFIA House’s long-term approach to supporting this complex journey
