About North Central Family Centre

At North Central Family Centre (NCFC), we are driven by the power of community, connection, and opportunity. Since 2002, NCFC has been a trusted and welcoming space in Regina’s North Central neighborhood, providing vital programs and services that empower children, youth, and families.

We believe that every child deserves a future, every family deserves stability, and every person deserves dignity. Through after-school programs, recreational activities, meals, employment readiness training, and housing support, we help individuals build brighter futures.

NCFC is community-built and community-led, ensuring that our work is led by and for the community we serve.

NCFC has been rooted in the belief that strong families create strong communities.

Our work focuses on reducing barriers, increasing opportunities, and providing safe, welcoming spaces where individuals can access programs, build relationships, and grow.

Our Goals

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide programs, activities and services in a supportive and safe environment to children, youth, families, and seniors; to build self-esteem and self-confidence and enhance their quality of life.

Our Vission

Be a centre of excellence; empowering youth, families, and the community.

Our Programs & Services

NCFC offers a wide range of preventative and supportive programs that respond directly to community needs, all of which are offered free of charge. These programs evolve over time, but consistently focus on:

Early childhood and family support
Parenting education and family wellness
Youth engagement and mentorship
Community outreach and resource navigation
Food security and basic needs support
Safe spaces for connection and belonging

NCFC provides donated goods including clothing, footwear, food, hygiene products, household items, and furniture. More than a place to find essentials, our drop-in space is staffed by caring, resourceful individuals who offer support, referrals, and a listening ear.

Whether someone needs help applying for identification or income supports, accessing primary health care, or navigating other challenges, our staff are here to help.

The Child and Youth Program at NCFC provides safe, inclusive, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate programming for children and youth ages 6 to 17 in the North Central Regina community. The program supports social, emotional, cultural, academic, and life-skills development through structured programming, relationship-based support, and community connection.

NCFC’s housing program supports individuals experiencing homelessness in finding safe, stable housing – and staying there. Through ongoing case management and regular check-ins, participants receive personalized support as they settle into their new homes, rebuild confidence, and develop the skills needed for long-term independence.

Our goal is more than just placing someone in housing. We walk alongside each person, helping them navigate challenges, access resources, and build a foundation for a better quality of life.

NCFC’s Kitchen & Nutrition Program ensures that children, youth, adults, and families have consistent access to safe, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food. Through meal preparation, snack provision, and food hamper distribution, the program directly supports NCFC’s Outreach, Housing, and Child and Youth Programs — helping to strengthen food security, dignity, and overall wellness across the communities we serve.

Our Programs & Services

Family Day Event (February)

Each Family Day, NCFC partners with Eagle Heart Centre to host a free, welcoming celebration for the families we serve. Held at Eagle Heart Centre’s facility, the day features family-friendly activities in the gym, a warm meal, and resource booths to connect families with helpful information and supports. To make sure everyone can join in, NCFC provides transportation so that no family misses out on the fun.

Hopes & Dreams Gala (March)

Each new year begins with an evening of dinner, entertainment, and community at NCFC’s annual Hopes & Dreams Gala. Guests come together to celebrate the people and work at the heart of our mission, and to help fuel the programs that make a difference in the lives of children, youth, and families across our community.

Gear Up for Summer (June)

Every June, NCFC runs Gear Up for Summer — a community fundraising campaign dedicated to making summer fun, memorable, and carefree for the children and youth we serve. Through events like our inaugural kickball tournament, we raise funds to cover camps, waterslide days, beach trips, Pow Wow attendance, and the staffing that makes it all possible. The community can also donate goods like sporting equipment, bathing suits, and summer toys. Because every kid deserves a real summer.

Family Beach Days (Summer)

Twice each summer, NCFC takes families to the beach — and makes sure getting there is never a barrier. In partnership with First Student Bus Company, who generously provide the bus, driver, and fuel, we’re able to bring up to 100 families out for a full day in the sun. NCFC provides everything needed for a memorable beach experience, from food to supplies, so families can simply show up and enjoy the day together.

Tween & Teen Overnight Camps (Summer)

Each summer, NCFC hosts two three-day overnight camps designed just for tweens and teens. Away from the city and out in nature, participants build confidence and independence while learning classic camping skills — and the adventure doesn’t stop there. Campers even get the chance to get out on the water by boat, making for memories that stick long after the summer ends.

Back to School Bash (August)

Each August, NCFC hosts its Back to School Bash — a free, festive community celebration to send kids into the new school year feeling ready and supported. Families enjoy a community BBQ, carnival games, and visits with fire trucks and police cars, while connecting with local service providers like Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Saskatchewan Health Authority, and the Regina Food Bank. Every child leaves with a backpack or binder fully stocked with school supplies, and a Street Store offers free clothing and footwear for the whole family. We distribute 500 school supply packages each year, making sure no child starts the year without what they need.

Brighten a Light, to Brighten a Life (December)

The holiday season looks a little brighter at NCFC. Our annual “Brighten a Light, to Brighten a Life” campaign is our flagship winter fundraiser, supporting programs and services across the organization. At the heart of it is the Guardian Gift Giveaway — a special shopping experience where parents and guardians choose new toys and gifts for their children, complete with a wrapping station, festive décor, and snacks to make the day feel like a celebration. Kids also take part in activities that blend giving back with seasonal joy, fostering generosity and community spirit at the best time of year.
