About Lumsden & District Heritage Home
The Lumsden and District Heritage Home (LDHH) has cared for our community’s seniors since 1987. It is a 30-bed long term care home in the Town of Lumsden, providing around the clock professional nursing and supportive care for 30 permanent residents. Three days a week the Home also runs an Adult Day Support Program and provides meals for the local Senior Meal Program, so its care reaches well beyond its walls and into the wider community.
In June of 2024, LDHH moved from municipal ownership, shared among the municipalities of the area, to an open community membership model. That change placed the future of the LDHH directly in the hands of the families, neighbours, and friends who care about it most. Nationally accredited and affiliated with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, the Home is guided by a simple mission, to provide quality care, based on best practices, in a safe and supportive home.
The Lumsden & District Heritage Home Operations Fund
The Lumsden and District Heritage Home Operations Fund supports the everyday and changing needs of the Home and the residents.
Caring for residents is about much more than the essentials. It is also about comfort, dignity, connection, and the small things that make a place feel like home. Gifts to the Operations Fund may be used wherever the need is greatest and could help support recreation and activity programming, the Adult Day Support Program, equipment and comforts for residents, or new initiatives the Home may take on in the years ahead.
By keeping this fund flexible, the Home can respond to needs and opportunities as they arise and put each gift to work where it will do the most good. Every contribution, large or small, helps the Lumsden and District Heritage Home continue to provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming home.
The Lumsden & District Heritage Home Legacy Fund
The Lumsden and District Heritage Home Legacy Fund is a lasting gift to the place so many families have trusted with the care of the people they love.
A gift to the Legacy Fund is invested in perpetuity. The original gift stays intact, and part of the earnings it generates are directed to the Home year after year. In this way, a single gift continues to give long after it is made, helping to support quality care and meaningful programs for residents for generations to come.
A legacy gift can be a way to honour a loved one, to give thanks for care your family has received, or simply to help make sure that excellent community-based care is here for the next generation of seniors in Lumsden and surrounding areas. Every gift, of any size, helps build something that lasts.
Charity Legacy Fund Incentive
Thanks to the generous gift from an anonymous donor, the Saskatchewan Community Foundation is able to support the long-term sustainability of local organizations through the growth of Legacy (Endowed) Funds. For every dollar contributed to a charity's Legacy Fund held at the Community Foundation, we will contribute an additional 10% on an annual basis (up to $50,000 annually).* For the Lumsden & District Heritage Home Funds, the Charity Legacy Fund Incentive applies to the Legacy Fund only.
