Gould-Peteherych Legacy Fund

We created this fund to honour our parents and grandparents, and for continued growth and future donations to chosen charities.    We have chosen charities that represent our values, to  benefit the health and wellbeing of all Canadians through medical research and to our special and dear animal friends.

This fund was created to honor two pioneering families:

The Gould & Ellis and the Peteherych & Moken families whose grandparents immigrated to Canada for a better life for themselves and future generations.

The Gould/Ellis Families

William and Jennie (Jane) Gould arrived in Canada from Great Britain and homesteaded on a farm near the town of Heward, Saskatchewan. They had nine children: two died at birth, son William and daughter Edith May.  The remaining children were Valentine (George), Philip, Dora, Everette, Earl, Luella and Ruth.

Johnathan and Janet Ellis immigrated to Canada from Great Britain and set up a homestead farm near Stoughton, Saskatchewan. They had a daughter Jane.

Jane married Philip Gould. Philip and Jane took over the farm as second generation farmers and operated a mixed farming operation. Philip and Jane had two sons: Carman Gould and Dennis Gould. Carman was a carpenter and had a water truck business early in life but later took over as the third generation to farm the land. The farm was sold after Carman’s death in 2025. Dennis married Rose Peteherych and resided in Regina, Saskatchewan. They had careers with the Federal and Provincial Governments.

The Peteherych/Moken Families

Tony Moken arrived in Canada from the Ukraine, working on farms until he raised enough money to bring his wife Helen and family from the Ukraine. They had two young daughters: Willemina and Katherine. They purchased a small homestead farm near Macoun, Saskatchewan. They continued to farm until their retirement.

Michael Peteherych arrived in Canada in his twenties as the only member of his family to do so. He married Katherine, settled in Estevan and raised five children. Michael had a trucking business. Steve, the oldest received his doctorate in physics engineering. He was instrumental in developing the technology to predict weather over the oceans using sea satellites with NASA. Donald was a self-made very successful business man in the oil industry in Calgary for over 25 years. Joan was a teacher in Hamilton, Ontario. Ole was also a self-made successful business man in the oil industry in Estevan. Rose married Dennis Gould, resided in Regina and had careers with the Federal and Provincial Governments.
