Dr. Colin Toffan and Dr. Sunita Toffan Legacy Fund

We are two clinically trained professionals whose aspiration is to improve the lives of others. In our front-line work, we used principles of empathy, compassion and understanding in delivering care. Through our health policy work, we helped to develop numerous improvements to the health care system that benefitted the health and lives of the people of the Province. We wish to continue to help people through the grants provided by our Legacy Fund.

We have a strong belief in the importance of education, coupled with hard work and perseverance. Our Fund will seek to support those individuals in pursuit of post-secondary education that will serve to benefit the lives of others, such as through degrees in healthcare professions.

We also believe in supporting those who need assistance because of disability. Our Fund will look to provide support in creating avenues and opportunities for individuals who encounter barriers and lack of access to programs that would improve their quality of life.

Apart from our professional careers, we share a variety of common interests. We share a love for the outdoors and through our travels, have come to appreciate access to areas that have been set aside so that the public may enjoy the unspoiled and natural beauty of the landscape. Our Fund will seek to support those initiatives and organizations whose goal is to create and maintain protected areas that preserve nature and create recreational opportunities for public access.

We believe it is important to support the arts because they bring people together, create dialogue and keep our cultures, languages and traditions alive for future generations. Our Fund will look to support programs that improve awareness and access to arts and cultural activities.

We recognize the fast past of change in technology, in health care delivery, in education and in society as a whole. We will work to ensure that our Fund remains adaptive to the future needs of individuals and organizations.

We value honesty, integrity, transparency, and accountability in organizations and individuals. Our Fund will focus on supporting those causes that align with our values. By growing the Fund and ensuring that grants will be used efficiently and effectively, the benefits will positively impact future generations to the maximum extent possible.
