Cultural Drop In Program
2024 Truth and Reconciliation Fund Grant Recipient— $10,000
The objective of the project was to offer a safe, barrier free, drop-in space to the community to gather and experience indigenous culture.
The outcome of this project was very impactful to those who participated and as an organization realized that we need to ensure low barrier cultural connections are available to the community consistently.
Outcomes Reported:
- Community members were able to meet their neighbors and connect with each other in a meaningful way.
- Community members were connected to cultural programs and opportunities beyond the program, inspiring a life long journey.

Being physically in community and feeling connected to people who share common experiences was the most impactful part of the program for one participant. This participant was a mother whose children attend the Centre’s after school and evening program. In her early 30’s this mother shared her struggles of parenting when she never experienced healthy parenting in her own life. The breakdown in her own family through residential schools and the loss of traditional ways has greatly impacted her and her family. She gave thanks to the Centre for the daily snacks and meals provided to her children. She also said being here was the first time she felt cared for in years.
