SCEP CENTRE Legacy Fund

This fund ensures the long-term sustainability of SCEP’s intensive therapeutic program for young children with complex challenges, helping build social, emotional and pre-academic skills while also supporting parents & caregivers.

The SCEP CENTRE Legacy Fund is designed to provide enduring support for the long-term sustainability of SCEP CENTRE’s early intervention and training services, ensuring that vulnerable children and their families continue to receive compassionate, evidence-based care during the most critical early years of development – well into the future.

SCEP CENTRE (Socialization, Communication and Education Program) is a registered charitable organization in Regina, SK, that has offered its intensive early intervention program since 1968. Many of the children referred to SCEP have been expelled or are unable to function in regular childcare centres, early learning centres and/or pre-kindergarten or kindergarten programs. Some of the enrolled children have been diagnosed with fetal alcohol syndrome, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, global developmental delay or autism spectrum disorder. Others present with severe communication and behavioural challenges related to environmental factors such as poverty, domestic violence, intergenerational trauma and family stress.

SCEP CENTRE fosters the development of social-emotional health, healthy interpersonal relationships as well as pre-academic and social skill development, enabling the children to heal and be integrated back into mainstream programs when ready. SCEP also provides support to the parents and caregivers of enrolled children. All of the services that SCEP CENTRE provides are offered in a trauma-responsive environment.

Gifts to the Legacy Fund will help preserve and expand these essential services – funding program continuity, comprehensive staff training, therapeutic resources, community outreach and capacity building. Legacy contributions ensure that future generations of children with complex needs can access a safe, supportive, trauma-responsive environment that fosters healthy development, family stability and the potential for meaningful participation in mainstream settings.

Impact Statements from Parents

It’s the best! It has helped us through so many hurdles. There are other programs out there, but only SCEP has been able to help us.

My child’s life has been so unstable and SCEP has been the one constant in her life. She thrives there and absolutely LOVES going.

Before SCEP, she was having melt downs sometimes hourly. When we started SCEP she was able to communicate with others better. They even helped me to communicate with her more easily. With the play therapy they worked through the trauma and she had another outlet instead of just having a meltdown. The communication with all the staff is great; it has always been very open and transparent.

The staff have a high level of knowledge and insight of kids with development delays. They are great for giving advice and support. The support system the program provides to parents is very impressive.

It’s a great program. It helped me as a parent find my own path with my child. They have my back and I feel like I’m not alone. I know I can call them with any problem or situation and they will help me and give me solutions.

SCEP saved us as a family. If we didn’t have them, I am not sure what we would have done.
